Discussion. Conquerors

3.1 Discussion. Conquerors

Getting Started

It is written in the book of Romans:

Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:33–38

This is written in God’s Holy Word! Do we believe it? Do we really live by it?

Background Information

Life can be regarded as a battleground, a battleground against our own sinful nature and against the destructiveness that comes up against us every day. Even so, we are not warring against flesh and blood but against principalities of darkness. How, then, do we strategically fight against this present darkness? How do we “conquer” it?

Paul shares what we must do in his letter to the Church at Ephesus:

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Ephesians 6:14–18
