Short Paper Initiatives (HCM)

Overview

In Module Four, you will examine some of the recent initiatives aimed at improving the performance of the healthcare system. As you learned in your module readings, healthcare should be:

• Safe
• Effective
• Timely
• Efficient
• Equitable
• Patient-centered

These six key dimensions form the basis for all implemented quality and payment reform strategies. For this paper, you should identify three health care initiatives that address the specific gap in access you identified in Milestone One. In Module Five, you will choose one of the three initiatives to develop further for Milestone Two of your final project. Use the Center for Disease Control’s website, National Health Initiatives, Strategies & Action Plans, located in the Readings and Resources in this course.
