The PMBOK Guide (2013) defines scope creep as: “the uncontrolled expansion to product or project scope without adjustments to time, cost, and resources.” For this week’s online discussion, analyze how scope creep has impacted your project planning activity in terms of “Inputs”, “Tools and Processes” and “Outputs”.
Scheduling is one of the primary tasks of a project manager. Many tools are available, but the mostly commonly used is the Gantt chart. Many use software such as Microsoft Project to manage scheduling.
PERT is a variation of the Critical Path Analysis that uses the shortest, longest, and most likely task estimate durations and forms a calculation. This calculation is more pessimistic than the Critical Path Analysis.
Building on the Critical Path built in Week 5, create a PERT evaluation given the data below and discuss how this compares to your conclusions in Week 5.
