WEEK 2: Chapters 4, 5, 6
This week, we read three chapters in the text, chapters 4, 5, and 6 (we are skipping chapter 7, read it if you want). Jacobson and colleagues cover the history of using crazy treatments. They give a very fine overview of the history of treatment of persons with disabilities. You may know some or all of this information, but they give a great review of the treatment approaches used. They have a section on sensory treatments; we provide more on that topic later in the semester. This week ends with a very interesting discussion of how the concept of ‘full inclusion’ is not really a great thing. I am very interested in what you have to say about that, so let’s “forum” about that (is that a new good verb?).
